Testing Team Takeaways
To test the Helix Elite Mattress, we had three people on our testing team take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.

The entire Helix Elite lineup is impressive for the quality of the design and materials. As a side sleeper, I found the Midnight Elite offered the best balance of a sturdy feel and plenty of cushioning for my hips and shoulders.

Overall, I liked the Twilight Elite model because of its supportiveness when I was sleeping on my side, back, and stomach. It may be too firm for some people, which is why it’s nice to have so many models to choose from.

Something I liked across all of the Helix Elite Mattresses was the cooling cover. Although some models retain a bit more heat than others, I didn’t find overheating to be a problem with the Elite collection.
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
Mattresses in the Elite Collection provide excellent support to side sleepers, but the optimal model tends to vary by body weight.
Side sleepers need a mattress that can prevent pressure buildup around the shoulders and hips, while also limiting exaggerated sinkage that can pull the spine out of alignment.
In our testing, side sleepers under 130 pounds liked the softer Sunset Elite and Moonlight Elite models. Those between 130 and 230 pounds gave the highest ratings to the medium firm (6) Midnight Elite and Dusk Elite. For those over 230 pounds, the Helix Plus Elite and Twilight Elite offered more firmness to protect against excess sinkage.
Back Sleepers
Our testing found that back sleepers typically get solid support from the Helix Elite Mattress as long as they have a model that aligns with their comfort preferences and body weight.
Back sleepers under 130 pounds gave the highest marks to the Dusk Elite, but many also got plenty of support from the Twilight Elite, Midnight Elite, and Plus Elite. People between 130 and 230 pounds liked many of the Elite Mattresses, especially the Twilight Elite. Those over 230 pounds had the best results sleeping on the firm (8) Dawn Elite.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers in our testing tended to prefer the Helix Elite models with more firmness and pushback around the midsection, such as the Dawn Elite and Twilight Elite.
In this sleeping position, it’s important to have a mattress that doesn’t allow too much sinkage around the midsection, which can jeopardize spinal alignment.
For stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds, the Dusk Elite, Twilight Elite, and Plus Elite offered the best balance of comfort and support. Those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds said the added firmness of the Twilight Elite and Dawn Elite enhanced their satisfaction with the mattress. And those over 230 pounds preferred the Dawn Elite, which is the firmest mattress in the collection.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Helix Elite Mattress Review Breakdown
All of the Helix Elite mattresses are 16 inches tall and share a similar Euro-top, hybrid design, but there are differences in the layering and firmness levels of the different models.
In all of the mattresses, the cover is made with a GlacioTex fabric designed for cooling and temperature regulation.
Every mattress has a total of five foam layers interspersed with two layers of individually wrapped microcoils. The top foam layer is made with polyfoam that’s quilted into the cover to create the Euro-style pillow-top.
In some models, there are layers made with memory foam or copper-infused memory foam. In other models, all five foam layers are made with polyfoam. The mattresses with memory foam tend to offer more contouring and motion isolation, while those with only polyfoam typically have better ease of movement and edge support.
In all of the Helix Elite Mattresses, the support core is composed of an 8-inch layer of pocketed coils that are divided into three zones to give extra reinforcement for heavier areas of the body. Thicker coils also line the perimeter to provide additional edge support. Underneath the coils is a base layer of high-density polyfoam for extra stability.

Trial, Warranty, and Shipping Policies
Helix Elite mattresses are sold on Helix’s website and through retail mattress partners. Shipping is available to addresses in the United States and Canada.
Helix offers free ground shipping to customers in the contiguous U.S. Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada is available for an additional fee.
Your mattress typically ships within three to five business days after you place an order. The mattress is sent in two separate boxes that are delivered to your doorstep.
To set up the mattress, you have to remove the mattress components from the packaging and place the comfort layers on top of the support core. The mattress will grow in size as it decompresses and should reach its full height in about two hours.
Helix partners with a third-party service provider to offer White Glove services for an additional charge. At checkout, you can confirm whether there’s a provider in your area, and if so, you have the option to include new mattress setup and/or old mattress removal in your order.
Your Helix Elite Mattress comes with a 100-night sleep trial. You must keep the mattress for at least 30 nights before you can initiate a return.
If your mattress feels slightly too soft or too firm, you can contact Helix to receive a different comfort insert to try during the trial period.
During the trial, you have the option to return the mattress if you aren’t satisfied with it. Helix will help coordinate the logistics of the mattress return and provide you with a full refund.
The sleep trial is offered for all Helix Elite Mattresses purchased online, but it may not be available when shopping with partner retail stores.
The Helix Elite Mattresses are covered by a lifetime limited warranty. The warranty protects against defects in the materials and manufacturing.
Under the warranty terms, coverage is prorated based on how long you’ve had the mattress. During the first 10 years of ownership, Helix will repair or replace a defective mattress at no cost to you. After that, you will be required to pay 50% to 75% of the purchase price to receive a replacement if your mattress is found to be defective.
